Abidin Dino (23 March 1913 – 7 December 1993) was a Turkish artist of Armenian heritage and a well-known painter.

Early years[edit]

Dino was born on 23 March 1913 in Istanbul into an art-loving family. He started drawing and painting at a young age influenced by his family. As a child he lived in GenevaSwitzerland and France for several years with his parents, returning to Istanbul in 1925. Dino began his secondary education at the American highschool Robert College of Istanbul, but dropped out to devote himself to painting, drawing and writing. His articles and cartoons were soon being published in newspapers and magazines, and in 1933 he and five other young innovative painters founded the “D Group”, which held several exhibitions of their work. At around the same time, he illustrated Nazım Hikmet’s books of poetry.[citation needed]

Güzin Dino (1910 – May 30, 2013) was a Turkish literary scholar, linguist, translator and writer. She is known for writing from a Marxist perspective.[1] She was married with the painter Abidin Dino (1913–1993).[2]
Güzin married to Abidin Dino in 1943 in Adana, Turkey. Her husband was a member of the Turkish Communist Party, who was exiled to the southern Turkish city. Subject to political pressure and prosecution, Abidin Dino left Turkey in 1952 to settle in Paris, France. She followed her husband in 1954 to France.[3]

Nazım Hikmet Ran (SalónicaImperio otomano20 de noviembrede 1901-Moscú3 de junio de 1963) fue un poeta y dramaturgoturco, considerado en Occidente el poeta más importante en lengua turca del siglo XX. Nació en la ciudad griega de Salónica, que en la época de su nacimiento formaba parte del Imperio otomano. Aunque en realidad había nacido dos meses antes, su nacimiento se registró el 15 de enero de 1902, y ésta fue considerada la fecha oficial. Su padre, Nazım Hikmet Bey, era un alto funcionario imperial, y su madre, Ayşe Dshalila, una destacada pintora. Yaşar Uğur Uluocak (1962 – 2 July 2003) was a Turkishoutdoorsman, mountaineer, photographer, and editor.
Born in 1962 in Ankara, Turkey, Uğur attended Saint Joseph High School in Istanbul, and graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University.
Uğur started mountain climbing in 1984 with the mountaineering club at Istanbul Technical University (ITUDAK). Uğur was a complete sportsman. He competed four years in rowing, ranking in first place. He was a middle and long distance runner for eight years, and a scuba diver and cyclistfor the last two years. As a globally known mountaineer, he trained many young sportsmen both in theoretical and practical ways.
From 1999 on, Uğur worked as a photographer, expedition coordinator and editor for the Turkish nature and outdoor sports magazine "Atlas". He not only wrote about his mountaineering adventures but also on mountaineering ethics and history with his friend Ahmet Köksal.

La poesía de este extraordinario ser humano, que pasó la mayor parte de su vida entre la cárcel y el destierro, constituye la más certera identidad de su patria y de sus gentes, siendo, como era, el más grande poeta turco de la Edad Moderna y uno de los más notables líricos del siglo XX.
